The project is a multidisciplinary collaboration between sleep experts, epidemiologists, clinicians, biostatisticians and computer scientists to document the health consequences of nighttime smartphone usage. The overall aim is through different studies to add knowledge about behavioral mechanisms that may lead to nighttime smartphone usage and to document the potential health consequences of nighttime smartphone usage. Knowledge on mechanisms, barriers and consequences of nighttime smartphone usage generated in the project may be used to develop interventions aimed at reducing smartphone interrupted sleep and to prevent potential health effects.
